Question about game
I understand that when you go out on a mission, you actually get your own map so you wont see anyone else other than the people along with you(people or henchmen). I was wondering if you go out alone, does it load fewer monsters than if you went out with 5 people.
thanks, Fatoo |

nope. If you go alone, there will be jsut as many monsters as if you went with 5 or 6( largest party so far int he game). This could be good if you want to farm lower level areas for certain crafting matierials, but if you area a soloer at heart and don't like the henchmen, you will probably have trouble with the higher level areas.

:P Correction... you have have 8 people in your party on later missions. I think that any missions after Lions Arch, allow for up to 8 people.

Magical fairies told me that it's 8 people max for later missions like Riverside and such...
lol, I had to ask other sources because you had me questioning myself.

It might be 6 for Riverside now... I'm not sure anymore. I know a mission that is 8 players though.

also i think that if you were soloing you are probably going for a challenge, and if there were less monsters, then it would just defeat the purpose of needing a group for harder missions |

There are actually crafting materials... You need to find them in order to craft better armour and such.
You bring say 5 Hides and 10 Gold to the "Crafter" to craft the Leather Leggings in Ascalon for your Ranger (materials will vary according to class and how good the armour is). You might not physically craft new items on your own, but you will need crafting materials, nonetheless. They are salvagable from various items that you find. Sometimes you might have trouble finding certain things and dropping down to lower level areas may help you.

But if you farm the lower levels you can farm by yourself (no henchmen, no players) and get all the drops. Plus some matierials drop more in Ascalon than in other places (Hides for example) |

What the heck have you guys been doing ??? Not playing past Lions Arch ??? Twidling your thumbs ? Your hand down your pants ???
He he - to good to pass up. Well, to be honest with you I don't remember well either, The last mission, I played it many times but can't remember if it is six or eight. We finished it me and a Ranger, and a Elementalist pluss a monk hencie after everybody quit / disconnected. Barely made it on the boat in time at 0.0001 health. I think you start with 8 in Riverside and the next and final mission is 8. But I am not sure - I have played Riverside over and over again, but we always end up with a group of 4 it seems. Before that - I thought we were always six. I am absolutley positive 6 out from Aurora Glade all the way to Riverside. Now, you can say I'm senile - and you are probably right. Game Questions
I'm using dial up, and my main concern is, if there are no seperate servers and there really are 500K + people that will be playing GuildWars, then won't there be like 300 people in any given city at any given time, and won't that cause alot of lag? I've been reading up on the game but I've yet to find any site that has info on the interals of it, such as who and what are hirlings, what is the economy like and how are crafting skills approached? If anyone knows a good site I'd really appreciate a link to it. The game sounds like an absolutely wonderful game and the graphics looks insanely awesome, but I am very concerned about the lag that may be caused by 500K people playing the game all at once..

there won't be 300+ people in any given city. they separate the towns into districts. that way, when district 1 fills up to their quota, district 2 is created and "new" people to that town get sent to the new district. you won't have to worry about lag due to massive amounts of players. |

The max to a group in lion arch and beyound missions is 6.(so far besides PvP)
As far as going in solo, you can farm higher level missions solo with the right character specs and knowledge. I was farming D'leassio Seaboard (mission outside lion-arch) all day with my toon doing the run in about 5 minutes and usually getting 4 yellows, or 3 yellows 1 blue(hint: mainly undead mobs). |

No, seriously, From what I've read the bulk of the stress on the game in general will be on your machine itself, and will have minimal difficulties working through dial up. As Duality says, there's a cap on the number of people in each town/outpost/whatever, so it's gonna be like a really spiffy chat room, lag-wise. I've played other games where it did have 1000+ people in one "world" and while it was lag-o-licious, it seemed like it was more a case of thier servers not being able to keep up rather than the player's computer, even the dial-ups. Naturally, your mileage may vary, but I wouldn't be too concerned- yet. ^_^ Dave III |
